CCI provides free educational support to elementary school students, through school-based homework and breakfast clubs. CCI holds Homework Clubs right after school four days per week at The Julian Curtiss School, The New Lebanon School, The International School at Dundee, and The Hamilton Avenue School. CCI staff and volunteers provide homework assistance and academic encouragement. CCI staff develop relationships with the teachers in order to better monitor students’ progress; become advocates for other educational service needs; and assist parents in communicating with school personnel. Frequently, classroom teachers serve as volunteers at Homework Club and offer input into a child’s educational needs.
One-to-one tutoring may also be available to those students requiring extra help. Tutoring takes place both during the school year and the summer months, and every tutor considers the student’s emotional and academic needs when formulating lesson plans.
